Day 5: The Global Mobile Learning Conference

Friday came round very quickly and the focus for today was on the Global Mobile Learning Conference.

Global Mobile Learning Conference

The online conference was setup by Theo (thanks and great job:-)), connecting us all using Elluminate Live, is a virtual environment that connects many people in a conference. The software allows you to speak to each other in real-time as well as text messaging, application sharing and a whiteboard – very cool!
The conference showcased m-learning projects at De Rust Futura Academy, Spectrum Primary School and Ramosadi Primary School,
The participants in the GMLC were, of course, De Rust Futura Acadamy and Spectrum Primary School. Dr Jeff Kupperman from Michigan University (US) and educator Lucy Haagen joined from Beijing (China), Mafikeng in South Africa and Theo from Washington DC and us all listened / took part in the conference.
Geoff Stead (below) presented an overview about the how m-learning was born and how and why devices are a great tool for learning.

Jeff Kupperman (below) talked how learners have successfully used mobiles for collecting video, audio and text data to create games.
